We are 7 days removed from reveal week of the Fall 2017 season of the One Room Challenge. Yet I am still in awe of the gorgeous spaces produced by the more than 200 other bloggers and designers!
So inundated I was with finishing my own space though, that I never fully got a chance to cheer on my "teammates". So I thought I'd do this first of many round ups to support them.
I hope you will be moved to show these gifted folks some love by visiting their blogs for more details.
NOTE: Subscribers to this blog will receive a lovely newsletter later in the week with a link back to this post for easy reference. If you'd like to be included, we'll wait here, while you click here, to sign up.
ORC Week 7 of 7
Welcome to REVEAL WEEK of the Fall 2017 One Room Challenge! Many thanks to Linda from CallingItHome and media sponsor House Beautiful for hosting this challenge. Without it, many of the spaces of my home would probably never receive the attention they need.
Without a doubt, revamping this hallway proved to be more challenging than I ever imagined. But I couldn't be more proud of what we've accomplished here. This space is my spicy bowl of boom chakalaka. HA! My #stopandstaredecor. Every ounce of creativity I could muster has been poured into it.
So please grab a cuppa your favorite sumthin', sumthin' and linger in it a bit with me. I hope that you are as pleased with the results as I am.
ORC Week 6 of 7
We’ve reached what should technically be the last week of the One Room Challenge hosted by CallingItHome and media sponsor House Beautiful. And boy am I ever glad to have an extra week!
While my room is technically finished, I keep finding more things to tweak. This is final push week. Time to touch up paint, reinstall baseboards, and caulk. In addition to that, there’s still one more thing I have yet to do… Hang that DIY chandelier I shared with you last week.
The good news is that we finally decided on a color for the floor stain. But the final choice couldn’t be further away from the original plan. We chose white. Aye!
ORC Week 5 of 7
I've got exciting news to announce! Due to the number of participants affected in various ways by the recent onslaught of natural disasters, the host of the One Room Challenge has granted us a one-week extension. This means that more than 200 other bloggers and I now have 7 weeks to complete our rooms. How thoughtful, right?
This additional week gives me just enough time to pull off this last DIY that I just can't seem to stop DIY'ing. Has that ever happened to you? Better yet, have you ever completed a difficult project that made you proud— so proud that you questioned whether you would undertake it again? If so, you will fully understand this post.
ORC Week 4 of 7
Welcome to Week 4 of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda of CallingItHome and media sponsor House Beautiful.
Little by little this forgotten space of my home is becoming a tiny gem. We're talking of course about my hallway makeover. Such a minuscule space— just a 14-foot long stair climb through a 36-inch wide passageway. Yet it seems to be transforming right before my eyes into something grander than I ever thought possible.
However, just as the process of extracting literal diamonds is laborious, so this overhaul has been.
ORC: Week 2 of 6
Boy what a week! Who knew that one of smallest areas of my home would be so tough?
For those of you just joining J’adore or Décor I’m in week 2 of 6 of a One Room Challenge. It’s a personal challenge sponsored by the blog CallingitHome in conjunction with media partner House Beautiful. Each week bloggers like me, along with 20 featured designers, journal our progress as we make over one space of our home in six weeks or less.
In last week's post I warned you of two things: 1) during this challenge anything UN-planned is bound to happen; and 2) not to become too attached to the inspiration mood board, since the final result would be drastically different. Let's just say, I'm really glad I gave you that heads up.
ORC Fall 2017: Week 1 of 6
Welcome to Week 1 of the One Room Challenge! I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to take you on this journey with me as I transform one room of my home.
For those of you who are new here, the One Room Challenge (ORC) is a six week makeover project hosted by Linda of Calling It Home and media partner House Beautiful. Bloggers like me, along with 20 featured designers will detail our design plans, and highs and lows, as we makeover one room of our choice. Every seven days we all journal our progress by means of a blog post, and will link it to a central location at Calling It Home.
The time passes remarkably fast. And as is the case with any remodel or makeover projects, anything outside of your original design plan is bound to happen.
Can you believe I'm attempting to do it again? Yes, I am going to subject myself to late nights; to scouring every thrift store possible in search of forgotten treasures; willingly throwing myself into another sea of DIYs? Me either! "What am I talking about", you ask?
After nearly making it by the skin of my teeth in the last time around, I will again be participating in the One Room Challenge, hosted by Linda of the blog CallingitHome and media partner House Beautiful. Whoo hoo!!! Yasss... this for me, is exhilarating!
ORC Week 6 of 6
It's finally here! Reveal week of the One Room Challenge has arrived!
Around this time last week I was vacillating between silent distress and beaming optimism as my husband and I battled against the rain, cold, and fatigue to do something we have NEVER attempted to do before: construct a pergola. I am happy to say that the outdoor room is complete.

"Oops, I did it again!"
No, this is not a tribute to Brittney Spears. It's me confessing to you that I've started yet another challenge.
It's called the One Room Challenge (ORC). Twice a year 20 pre-selected interior bloggers choose one room for a total makeover. They are given 6 weeks to complete the entire project. During this 6-week period, we follow as they show us their room transformations. Additionally, all blogger guest participants - that's where I fit in - follow along and document their own progress in a blog post. Each Thursday, we all link to one main page, which will be viewed by many observers, top name designers, and home & garden industry influencers.
Welcome to "my place". I'm Ola, a self-confessed décor addict and DIY think-tank. I love working with small spaces. Please make yourself comfortable, and let's get to know one another better.
