The Friday Fix: Ways to Save Money on Amazon

Readers of this blog might find this hard to believe.  But I HATE spending money.  Hate it.  The irony however, is that I enjoy nice furnishings.  Sure, I also like having other fine goods. But the truth is, I don't care for spending the money to buy them.  I'm a cheapskate.  And you know what?  I am not ashamed.  Nope.  Not one bit.

Why?  It's because I know that being thrifty doesn't mean you or your home has to look the part.
Hence I'm always on the look out for ways to get that $600 item for 20 bucks or less.  I mean, you saw how I duped that ridiculously expensive tribal necklace for less than $15 right?

Affiliate links may be included in this post. This means that should you purchase a linked product, I may receive a small commission, but at no additional cost to you. To read my full disclosure click here.

That of course is an example of an extreme savings.  But there are other ways of making your dollars stretch— not just for the items you want, but for the ones you NEED.  One method is with Amazon.

Amazon is seriously the "Wal-Mart" of the internet.  And with their recent acquisition of a number of big name corporations, their presence is only getting bigger.  That means more savings for all of us.  Here are a few ways to ride this gravy train.

1.  Use Amazon Prime - DID YOU KNOW..?

Amazon offers its Prime program for recipients of government assistance programs, such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)?  The fee in this case is drastically reduced to just $5.99 for qualified EBT cardholders.  (Click the banner ABOVE for more info)

You can share the cost of  the $99 annual fee for Amazon Prime with a family member or friend?  Sharing benefits through Amazon Household requires both adults to link their accounts in an Amazon Household and agree to share payment methods. Each adult keeps his or her personal account while sharing those benefits at no additional cost.

Students currently enrolled in a college or university who have a valid .edu e-mail address can join Prime Student and receive a 6-month trial that includes FREE Two-Day Shipping on eligible purchases?  After the 6-month trial ends, student members are eligible to receive 50% off Amazon Prime, including all Prime benefits, for four years or until they graduate, whichever comes first.  Cool huh?  (Click the banner BELOW for more info)

2.  Take Advantage of Amazon's Premium Cable Channels

My husband and I cut the cable cord a number of years ago.  We hated paying for channels we didn't watch.  So when there is a series or sports game we want to watch, we simply purchase the actual series or the access to the channel.  When our favorite show is not longer running, with the click of a button, we cancel the service.  Yes, it's that easy!
