I thought you'd never ask.  Amazon Prime Day is a 36-hour, global, online shopping event set aside exclusively for active members of Amazon Prime.  Put simply, Prime Day is the Black Friday of Summer.  A Prime subscription service includes perks like FREE 2-day shipping on qualified products, streaming of TV shows, movies and music, unlimited reading, FREE 2-hour shipping in some areas, and lots more.

According to one source, Amazon.com carries an eye-popping 353 million products on its site.  With numbers like that, NOW would be the time to take a second look at your list of things to buy to see if your most desired items will be marked down.

But you don't want to go about this in a haphasardly way.  Noooo...You need a strategy my friend.  Feeling a bit overwhelmed?  No worries.  I've created a step-by-step guide to help you get the most out of the busiest shopping days at Amazon.

A Step-by-step Guide to Navigating Amazon Prime Day

1.  Mark Your Calendar

This year Amazon Prime Day launches on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 3PM ET.  Right now... pick up your phone and mark that date in your calendar.  (I'll wait here patiently while you do that.)

2.  Sign Up for Amazon Prime

REMEMBER this event is for subscribers of Amazon Prime ONLY.  If you don't want to miss amazing deals on items that are probably already on one or more of your Amazon wish lists, you'll need to do this.  The good news is, Amazon will give you 3O days to pay the nominal membership fee.  Click the green banner to the right (below if you're on mobile) to get started.

3.  Download the FREE Amazon App to Receive a $10 Credit

Well lookie there... you're already saving money and you haven't even bought anything yet!  This deal applies only to first time downloaders of the app.

Do you already have the Amazon App installed?  Well here's a little something for your loyalty.  Install the browser extension called Amazon Assistant and get $5 off your next $25 purchase.

Click here to download it now,  or here to view the video on how Amazon Assistant works.

Looking for yet one more way to save on Prime Day? Get $5 OFF select Prime Day deals when you try Camera features within the app. The features include AR view, Product Camera Search, Barcode Scanner, and package X-ray. The eligible deals change every 6 hours.

4.  Check Out the Sneak Peak Deals Before the Sale Starts

Once you've downloaded the Amazon App you'll get a sneak peek into Prime Day deals right within the app. To get notified when sneak peek deals start, make sure that you have your Amazon App notification turned on.  To do that, simply tap the top left menu icon to open the app menu, then tap "Settings", then "Notifications", and enable "Personalized Notifications".  Note:  Don't forget to check out Amazon's family of Echo and Alexa devices, along with their Mid-century Modern furniture line, Rivet.

5.  Take Advantge of Lightning Deals

Did you know that you can add upcoming deals to your watch list and be notified when the sale of those items goes live? Lightning deals are time-sensitive promotions offered in imited quantities for a short period of time.  These deals are typically available, one per customer, until either the promotion period for the deal expires or all the available inventory is claimed.  They are availalble on the Today's Deals page or on the Prime Day page.  Click here to view a brief how to video.

6.  Don't Forget to Do This on Prime Day

Did you know that Amazon will offer exclusive in-store deals at Whole Foods Market on Prime Day?  Be sure to use your Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card along with your membership to get an additional 10% back on your purchases that day.  Also remember to check with Alexa for access to the latest deals. And of course check the Amazon App Check for Specific Deals on Specific Items: Shopping for a specific item? Simply look for the Prime Day badge to see if it's on sale.
