This is What Happens When You Set A Goal

Somebody pinch me! Something awesome just happened here on the blog. I just got the news that, J’adore le Decor’s “This is Us” Keeping Room makeover is being featured on Design Sponge T-O-D-A-Y! Well technically speaking, “today” actually means tomorrow. But by the time you read this it really will be “today”. Still with me?

It’s part of my normal practice to set goals on an ongoing basis. So naturally I set goals for this little blog of mine at the very outset. The problem is that they were not very clearly defined goals. In fact, setting and developing marketing strategies and goals for this blog has been much more difficult for me than I ever imagined. So late 2018 I decided to work harder on narrowing down smarter goals for my blog in 2019.

If a Goal Doesn't Challenge You Then Why Bother?

Earlier in the year, I set a goal to get this blog featured by at least one major social media outlet before the end of the year. Despite many emails and direct messages from you loyal readers assuring me it was possible, I was slightly pessimistic - and very much afraid.

But then I reasoned that if my business goals didn’t rattle me just a bit, why should I even bother setting them? With that perspective in mind, I decided I would just give it a go and stand back to see what happens. I put this blog in front of everyone whom I thought might be intrigued enough to want to know more about it.

I share this great news with you with the hope that it will encourage you to set a few scary goals of your own.

Trying, Failing and Then…Growth

I am amazed by how much my style has matured since I began sharing my love of eclectic, bohemian chic interiors! Of course I still love the outdoor and indoor spaces The Husband and I have tackled together. But I do see what I view as “mistakes” and am slowly refining those areas. Indeed my own confidence in my work continues to grow - albeit slowly - with each new project. This feature certainly helps with that ascent.

But enough talk. Wanna read the article? Here it is:
