Chi-Town Speakeasy Man Cave | Forest Park, IL

An Expression of Tailored Swagger & Urban Sophistication

The Brief: To transform an ordinary suburban basement into a swanky, sophisticated retreat with a decidedly creative edge. Our client envisioned a space that felt hip, tailored, and effortlessly bohemian, with plenty of personality.

The Approach: We paired unfussy silhouettes with richly saturated color, allowing a cognac sofa to command attention against sleek, high-gloss white cabinetry. Warm taupe-copper grasscloth enveloped the walls, while a streamlined stainless steel and walnut railing replaced the dated wooden staircase. A refurbished 1960s Bauhaus chair introduced vintage character, and a cleverly recessed bar and refrigerator turned an awkward bulkhead into a purposeful feature. And for a playful wink, Star Wars gets the bespoke treatment, with artwork featuring Darth Vader, R2-D2, Chewbacca, and company dressed to impress in tailored suits. Even the galaxy has a dress code.

The Outcome: A sexy, sophisticated man cave with the swagger of a Chicago speakeasy and the unmistakable allure of Mad Men. Tailored, a little rebellious, and effortlessly cool.

Proof that even a suburban basement can have a downtown state of mind.
