Romancing the Stone | Lincoln Park, ILAn Expression of Modern Heritage
The Brief: To reimagine a period home with the intimacy of a boutique hotel, balancing quiet drama with warmth, softness, and an unmistakable sense of welcome. Our clients envisioned a serene, collected interior where thoughtful color, contemporary sophistication, and treasured family heirlooms could live beautifully together.
The Approach: We let the home's architecture lead, pairing contemporary furnishings with heritage-inspired dining chairs, reupholstered in an unexpected leopard-inspired fabric. Richly colored, 100% wool rugs brought depth without overwhelming the rooms, while a sculptural, tight-back curved sofa in gargoyle green performance fabric introduced a contemporary silhouette. Vintage artwork sourced from a local dealer added character and intrigue. Even the family's beloved kitchen set was sanded, repainted, and reupholstered, its new fabric thoughtfully connecting the adjoining spaces and butterfly-inspired barstools.
The Outcome: A home that feels collected rather than decorated, sophisticated yet deeply personal. Old favorites found new purpose, unexpected combinations found harmony, and our clients fell in love with their home all over again.
Because beautiful design doesn't erase a home's story. It gives it another chapter.
